E waste can be left to heap up on the roadsides, in garbage dumps or the never-to-be-visited-again-this-year corners of the garage.
Crafts and objects that you will love to show off, while at the same time making you feel good for having recycled the electronic waste and done your bit for saving our wonderful planet.
Here are some wonderful crafts you can create out of the e waste around you:
Photo Frames, Bags From Old Keyboards
Thousands of people throw off their old, kaput keyboards every year in the trash can. Simply thrown away because they have very little resale value, if at all. But see how a creative e waste recycling company has created these cool handbags and photo frames out of old keyboards.
2. Best Planters Out of Waste Floppies
If you have a treasure trove of floppy disks from the yesteryear which you don’t quite know what to do with, try making some table side planters with them.
To begin with, have at least 5 floppies in any one color and then stick them together to form a box with hot glue. Stick the 5th floppy at the bottom to form the base.
Since the box the planter you thus make will be small and might get damaged when you water the plants regularly, I would recommend growing plants in emptied yogurt cans and cheese tins and then placing them inside the box.
They look absolutely fantastic on an office table or your kid’s study table. Even in a corner of your kitchen. Not to mention the oxygen you get!!

3. Cuff Links From old MAC Keyboard
You could create these cool cuff links from the keyboard of your old Mac. You might need a little professional help with this, but this would be a terrific gift idea for a geek!
I guess my brother will love to sport them.
4. Magnets Using Keys Off Useless Keyboard
Take off these six keys from a discarded keyboard and arrange them like this. Now, affix a magnet to the back to get a fantastic craft. Use it to stick notes on your refrigerator, cupboard or simply to give away to someone you love.
5. Circuit Board Earrings in Various Shapes
If you a geek gal yourself or have a sis/ friend who is proud of being one, I am sure she will love to flaunt these earrings made out of old, unused mother boards. The best thing is that you can them out in any shape you want. We only have the pictures of round and square shaped earrings here. You can, of course, put your ingenuity to work and cut them out in the shape you want. This is one of the best idea to create something out of e-waste.
6. Pendants For Geek Gals
You could make pieces of chunky neck jewelry from old motherboards or from keys taken off your old keyboard. I have chosen the ESC key here. You could choose “Delete” or “Ctrl” if you so wish. Not only that, you could even join two keys together to show your birth date. “26”, for example.
7. Disk Notebooks
Again, you could create cute and impressive looking notebooks out of your old disks. We have, in this picture, removed the stickers from the face of the disks to give the notebook a very neat look, making it fit even for office use. You could, however, add an element of funk to it by leaving the stickers intact and enhancing them using your painting and sketching skills.
8. Key Chains Out of Old Mother Boards
Cut off a piece of old, useless mother board in any shape you like and smoother its edges. Now, pierce this ring through it to make a cool key chain.
9. Key Chains Made Out of Old RAMs
If you have some discarded RAMs lying with you, you can make key chains out of them too. No, they would look super cool if held by science students, hardware dealers or manufacturers or techies.
10. Business Card Holder From Old Circuit Board
Now, this is one of my personal favorites. Out of all the beautiful things we created out of e waste, this sleek business card holder made from pieces of old circuit board is simply the best. Flaunt your concern for the environment and your creativity with subtlety.
